Interests:
I have a passion for God and His creation. I am not a theologian at all (I have done a few courses in
Biblical Archaeology), but I have experienced and got to know the God of the Bible as the living God. It
has changed my life irrevocably. Professionally,
I'm interested in behavioural ecology, especially the "larger picture" aspect of ecology, including mitigating
human-wildlife conflict and in using technology from different fields to benefit nature (e.g. GIS, Cybertracker,
GPS collars, "green" energy etc). I am also interested in
learning more from nature that could be applied to benefit technology (mimetics) and ultimately, people. I consider
the Creator as the best source for new ideas available. I also like reading,
playing the guitar, snorkeling, sport, rock-climbing, computers (programming, games & computer security).
Specific areas that interest me professionally includes:
- Behavioural ecology
- Sustainable use and management of natural resources
- Human-wildlife conflict and finding practical solutions to it
- Application of computers for information management in ecology (including GIS)
I'm also interested in all aspects of computer security, operating systems and programming
languages. Operating systems and languages I have played and worked with:
- DOS
- MS Windows (3.1, 95, 98 SE, 2000, 2003 and XP)
- Linux (Debian, SuSE,
Ubuntu, Knoppix (RE), Yoper, PCLinuxOS, Mepis, Symphony, Fedora... currently Mepis is my favorite)
- BeOS! One of my all-time favorites.
(See the Haiku project)
- Delphi (versions 1 - 5) - currently I mostly use Lazarus
- Assembler (PC and TINI)
- C++ (and C)
- TINI Java
- Scheme (a little LISP)
- Python! I haven't done any real work in Python, but I like playing with it a lot.

- ...and of course HTML and CSS (although this web page might not be the best advertisement
for that!
)
